Early fall is a great time to keep an eye out for the migrating Monarch Butterflies. Stopping for fuel on brightly colored flowers, these beautiful winged insects can be photographed using a telephoto lens. I captured this example using a Canon 70-200L f4. I have had the greatest fun finding the most interesting details in the very small. It all started with one of my photos making the Chicago channel 5 news, a micro fungi I found in my mulch this spring. Since, I have found myself looking at things like a kid with a magnifying glass. I am always amazed by the great photos posted by friends of their vacations. I must admit, sometimes a bit jealous of the beautiful locations.
